County Suicide Prevention Task Force: no task force but various initiatives in place

"in Formation," Centre County Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention:
  • in 2009 held in-service program on teen depression and suicide risk for teachers in the State College Area School District
  • on January 18 sponsoring in-service prgram on "Helping Teachers Understand and Address the Risk of Suicide for LGBT Youth," with Dr. Anthony D'Augelli from Penn State
  • on January 27 sponsoring 4th Annual Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk; registration at noon

In addition, county MH/MR has contracts in place with numerous mental health clinicians and psychologists who can provide treatment and training at the request of schools and others, even though there is no formalized task force to address suicide only. Communities that Care address broader prevention issues with programming to address skill-building and making good choices.
